A Hyderabad-based couple who travelled to Switzerland for a vacation has gone missing, prompting a police investigation that has now expanded into an alleged multi-crore investment fraud. Authorities are examining claims that the couple collected nearly ₹50 crore from investors before leaving India, raising serious concerns about a possible financial scam.
The couple, identified as Pabba Chandrasekhar and his wife Pabba Swapna, reportedly left Hyderabad for Switzerland on June 22. According to family members, they remained in contact for a few days after reaching Europe. However, communication suddenly stopped, and both their mobile phones have remained switched off since then.
Concerned about their disappearance, the couple’s daughter approached the police and filed a missing persons complaint after repeated attempts to reach her parents failed. Investigators immediately launched efforts to trace the couple and verify their whereabouts.
Missing Persons Case Reveals Alleged Financial Fraud
While investigating the disappearance, police reportedly uncovered allegations that Chandrasekhar had collected large sums of money from numerous investors through an informal investment scheme.
According to investigators, the couple allegedly accepted investments by promising attractive returns, convincing many individuals to deposit their savings. Preliminary findings suggest that the total amount collected may be close to ₹50 crore, although authorities are still verifying the exact figure.
The investigation has now shifted focus from a simple missing persons case to a broader financial crime inquiry involving multiple complainants.
Dozens of Investors Approach Police
As news of the couple’s disappearance spread, several investors reportedly came forward claiming they had invested significant amounts of money with Chandrasekhar over the past few years.
Many complainants stated that they trusted him because of his reputation in the community and his long-standing business activities. They alleged that they were assured of safe investments and high returns, leading them to invest substantial amounts. Some investors also claimed they encouraged relatives and friends to participate based on those assurances.
After the couple became unreachable, investors began fearing that their money had been lost and approached the police seeking legal action.
Business Dealings Under Examination
Investigators are closely examining Chandrasekhar’s financial background and business operations. Reports indicate that he had been associated with a cement dealership and was known among local business circles.
Police are reviewing financial records, bank transactions, and investor statements to determine how the money was collected and whether the investment activities violated financial regulations. Authorities are also trying to establish whether the funds were linked to legitimate business operations or managed through an unauthorized investment network.
International Travel Being Verified
Since the couple travelled abroad before contact was lost, police are verifying their travel records and current immigration status. Investigators are working to determine whether they are still in Switzerland or have travelled to another destination.
Officials are exploring every possible angle and have not ruled out any scenario regarding the couple’s disappearance. The case continues to be treated as both a missing persons investigation and a suspected financial fraud.
Investors Demand Swift Action
Individuals who claim to have invested money with the couple are urging authorities to conduct a thorough investigation and recover their funds. Many have requested immediate legal action to trace the couple, identify their assets, and determine the full extent of the alleged fraud.
Experts note that investigations involving large-scale financial fraud typically require detailed examination of bank accounts, property records, financial transactions, digital communications, and investor documentation before criminal liability can be established.
If sufficient evidence is found, investigators may consider legal action under provisions related to cheating, criminal breach of trust, and financial fraud.
Investigation Continues
Police continue to collect statements from investors, analyse financial records, and establish a complete timeline of events leading up to the couple’s departure from India.
Authorities have appealed to anyone with information regarding the couple’s whereabouts or financial dealings to assist the investigation. Officials are working to determine whether the disappearance is directly connected to the alleged investment fraud or whether other circumstances are involved.
The case has attracted widespread attention because of the substantial amount of money allegedly involved and the growing number of investors claiming financial losses. As the investigation progresses, police are expected to gather further evidence to establish the facts surrounding both the disappearance and the alleged financial fraud.
