The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has introduced a fresh set of strict security and conduct guidelines for all Indian Premier League franchises following growing concerns over player safety, unauthorized access, and discipline-related issues during the ongoing IPL season. The detailed advisory has been circulated among all franchises and includes several mandatory rules aimed at protecting players, support staff, and the overall integrity of the tournament.

One of the biggest highlights of the new directive is a warning regarding potential “honey trap” situations. Franchises have been instructed to remain highly cautious about interactions involving unknown individuals and unauthorized visitors. The board has reportedly advised players and team staff to avoid situations that may lead to security breaches, reputational damage, or legal complications.

Under the revised regulations, no outsider will be allowed to enter hotel rooms occupied by players or support staff without prior approval from team management. Guests and visitors will only be permitted in designated public areas such as hotel lobbies or meeting lounges unless official clearance is granted.

The BCCI has also tightened rules related to player movement outside team hotels. Players and support staff are now required to inform team security officials before leaving hotel premises for personal activities. Team managements have been asked to maintain proper records of player movement throughout the tournament to ensure safety and accountability.

The board has additionally raised concerns regarding unauthorized access to restricted areas during matches. Franchise owners, guests, and associates have been instructed not to enter dressing rooms, dugouts, or other restricted zones without formal approval. The move is intended to maintain discipline and avoid unnecessary distractions during matches. 

Another major decision announced in the advisory is a complete ban on vaping and electronic cigarettes at IPL venues. The prohibition applies to dressing rooms, dugouts, training facilities, team hotels, and all tournament-related premises. Officials stated that vaping devices are not permitted under Indian regulations, and violations could invite disciplinary as well as legal action.

The latest move comes after recent controversies involving alleged vaping incidents connected to IPL activities. The governing body is reportedly keen to maintain professionalism and ensure that the tournament’s image remains protected from unnecessary controversies.

Franchises have now been directed to conduct immediate internal briefings for all players and support staff regarding the updated guidelines. Every individual associated with a team is expected to acknowledge and follow the newly introduced rules during the remainder of the IPL season.

According to officials, violations of the advisory may result in disciplinary action, financial penalties, suspensions, or further investigation depending on the seriousness of the breach. Surprise inspections and monitoring measures may also be implemented to ensure compliance across all franchises.
