In a significant development in the high-profile Nashik workplace harassment and religious coercion investigation, police have arrested Nida Khan, one of the key accused linked to the ongoing controversy surrounding a Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) unit in Maharashtra. The arrest comes after weeks of intensive search operations conducted by a Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing multiple allegations made by women employees.
According to police officials, Khan was apprehended in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar after allegedly remaining absconding for several weeks. Authorities confirmed that the arrest was carried out with assistance from local police units and crime branch officials. The accused is expected to be produced before a Nashik court as investigators continue expanding the scope of the case.
The arrest is being viewed as a major step in the ongoing probe that has already led to several detentions and multiple FIRs related to workplace misconduct, alleged sexual harassment, mental abuse, and accusations of religious coercion involving employees at the Nashik facility.
The Special Investigation Team constituted by Nashik Police has reportedly been examining at least nine separate complaints connected to incidents at the company’s Nashik office. Investigators claim that the allegations involve harassment, intimidation, coercive religious practices, and inappropriate workplace conduct over an extended period.
Police sources stated that multiple women employees came forward with complaints alleging pressure to participate in religious activities and follow certain customs. Some complainants also accused individuals within the organization of creating a hostile and emotionally distressing work environment.
The case gained national attention after authorities began uncovering details suggesting possible failures in workplace grievance redressal mechanisms. The probe also raised questions regarding compliance with internal anti-harassment procedures and employee safety protocols.
Investigators allege that Nida Khan was involved in activities that targeted female employees through workplace communication channels, including WhatsApp groups. According to the FIRs, she allegedly encouraged certain employees to follow specific religious customs, including prayer practices, dietary changes, and dress-related expectations.
Some complainants further alleged that they were pressured into modifying personal habits and religious practices while working at the facility. Authorities have invoked various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) relating to sexual harassment, defamation, outraging religious sentiments, and criminal intimidation.
Police have also reportedly added provisions under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act after allegations emerged that coercive conduct continued despite knowledge of the complainant’s caste identity.
Before her arrest, Khan had approached a Nashik court seeking anticipatory bail and interim protection from arrest. Court filings reportedly mentioned pregnancy-related concerns as part of the plea for relief. However, the court rejected her anticipatory bail application, observing the seriousness of the allegations and the importance of custodial interrogation in the ongoing investigation.
Following the rejection of her bail plea, the SIT intensified search operations across different parts of Maharashtra. Officials eventually tracked her location in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, leading to her arrest.
Police have already arrested multiple individuals connected to the case, including employees and managerial staff associated with the Nashik unit. Investigators are also examining whether internal complaint systems failed to act despite repeated warnings and allegations raised by employees.
Authorities earlier stated that evidence collected during the probe includes emails, chat records, employee testimonies, and workplace communication data. The SIT is continuing forensic analysis and questioning additional individuals connected to the matter.
The investigation has triggered widespread discussion around workplace safety, corporate accountability, and the responsibilities of organizations in addressing complaints related to harassment and discrimination.
The case has emerged as one of the most closely watched corporate workplace investigations in recent months, drawing public attention to allegations involving exploitation, intimidation, and religious pressure inside a professional environment.
Legal experts suggest that the investigation may influence future discussions around enforcement of workplace protection laws, anti-harassment compliance, and accountability within large corporate institutions. Meanwhile, police officials have indicated that the investigation remains active and additional action could follow depending on evidence gathered during questioning and digital forensic examination.
Officials have not ruled out the possibility of more arrests as the SIT continues its probe into the broader network of allegations linked to the Nashik workplace controversy.
