US President Donald Trump has reportedly reiterated his claim of a military victory over Iran, asserting that American forces had significantly weakened Tehran’s capabilities while warning China against supplying arms to the Islamic Republic.

On Sunday, Trump reportedly said Iran had lost key elements of its defence infrastructure, including naval, radar and air force capabilities, and suggested its leadership had been severely impacted. He maintained that, from the United States’ perspective, the outcome of the conflict was already a success.

On reports of China allegedly supplying weapons to Iran, Trump issued a strong warning, stating that Beijing would face “serious consequences” if such actions were confirmed.

His remarks come as diplomatic efforts continue between Washington and Tehran in Islamabad, where both sides have been engaged in prolonged negotiations aimed at stabilising the situation following weeks of conflict.

The US delegation is being led by Vice President JD Vance, alongside senior officials including special envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner. The Iranian side is headed by Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.

As per reports, Trump said discussions had been ongoing for several hours, but indicated that a deal was not essential from Washington’s standpoint. He added that the United States remained confident regardless of the outcome of the talks.

Responding to questions about the possible release of Iranian assets, Trump said negotiations were still underway and reiterated his position that the US had already achieved its objectives.

The talks follow more than a month of heightened military tensions, which prompted Iran to close the strategically crucial Strait of Hormuz, disrupting global energy trade. A fragile two-week ceasefire was announced earlier, paving the way for the current round of direct negotiations.

As per reports, Pakistan has been mediating the dialogue, marking a rare instance of face-to-face engagement between the two sides in an effort to de-escalate the crisis. However, with differences persisting on key issues, the outcome of the talks remains uncertain.
