Thiruvananthapuram: A late-night confrontation over alleged reckless motorcycle riding and loud noise escalated into a fatal stabbing incident in a suburban locality, leaving a 22-year-old man dead and four individuals, including a minor, in police custody. Authorities are investigating the sequence of events that led to the violent outbreak.

According to police officials, the deceased, identified as Manu, a resident of the Kannaravila area in Kottukal, was involved in an argument with a group of local youths on Sunday night. The dispute reportedly began when the group was allegedly engaging in motorcycle racing and creating excessive noise near his residence.

Argument Escalates Into Violence

Preliminary findings suggest that tensions flared when Manu confronted the group over the disturbance. What began as a verbal exchange quickly escalated into a physical altercation near the locality.

Investigators said that the confrontation intensified as the accused and the victim moved away from the immediate vicinity of his home. During the scuffle, Manu was allegedly attacked and stabbed, sustaining serious injuries.

Local residents alerted authorities after hearing commotion in the area. Emergency responders rushed the injured youth to a nearby hospital in Neyyattinkara, but doctors declared him dead on arrival due to the severity of the stab wounds. 

Four Accused Taken Into Custody

Police have taken four individuals into custody in connection with the incident, including a minor boy. The other accused are reported to be young men residing in the same neighbourhood as the victim.

Officials confirmed that all suspects are currently being interrogated to determine their individual roles in the attack and to reconstruct the exact timeline of events leading up to the stabbing.

Authorities have also indicated that charges under relevant provisions of the criminal law relating to murder and common intention have been invoked as part of the ongoing investigation.

Investigation Underway

Law enforcement agencies are examining whether the altercation was a spontaneous escalation or part of an earlier ongoing dispute between the individuals involved. Statements from witnesses and forensic evidence from the scene are being collected to establish the motive and the chain of events.

Police sources stated that further arrests are possible depending on the outcome of the investigation. The involvement of a minor has also added a juvenile justice dimension to the case, which will be handled under applicable legal provisions.

Officials emphasized that the investigation is at an early stage and cautioned against drawing conclusions until all evidence is thoroughly examined.
