Interstate Breakthrough in Aide Murder Case: Three Arrested as Probe Into Political Killing Expands Beyond Bengal

A major breakthrough has emerged in the investigation into the killing of a close aide of senior West Bengal political leader Suvendu Adhikari, with police arresting three individuals from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. The arrests mark a significant escalation in a case that authorities now believe involves a wider interstate network and possibly a professional contract killing module.

According to investigators, the three accused were detained following coordinated raids carried out in multiple districts after technical surveillance and digital intelligence inputs linked them to the crime scene. The murder, which took place in North 24 Parganas district, had initially triggered shock across political circles due to its precision and suspected planning.

Preliminary findings suggest that the suspects were not local to West Bengal and were allegedly brought in specifically to execute the attack. Police sources indicate that at least one of the arrested individuals is suspected to be a trained shooter, pointing toward the possibility of hired gunmen being used in the operation. Investigators are also probing whether additional individuals provided logistical support, including transport, surveillance, and escape routes.

Authorities believe the killing was executed with premeditated coordination. The victim was allegedly targeted in a carefully planned ambush, reinforcing suspicions that the operation involved multiple layers of planning rather than a spontaneous act of violence.  Murder of Suvendu Adhikari's aide: Three held in Bihar, Uttar Pradesh

Investigation Expands Across States

Following the arrests, investigative teams expanded their operations into Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, where further suspects are being questioned. Officials are examining call detail records, digital footprints, and financial transactions to establish links between the accused and possible masterminds behind the attack.

The probe has now widened significantly, with investigators estimating that multiple individuals—possibly around eight or more—may have been involved in different roles, ranging from surveillance to execution and logistics.

Political Sensitivity and Security Concerns

The murder has intensified political tensions in West Bengal, with the case drawing attention due to the victim’s proximity to a prominent political figure. The killing has raised fresh concerns about the safety of political workers and aides in the state, especially in the wake of recent episodes of political violence.

Security agencies are also reviewing whether the attack has any political or personal motive, although officials have so far refrained from making any conclusive public statements.

Ongoing Probe and Next Steps

With the arrests marking an early breakthrough, law enforcement agencies are continuing interrogations to uncover the broader conspiracy. Further arrests are expected as investigators trace the financial and communication trail linked to the accused.

Officials have stated that the focus now is on identifying the alleged masterminds who orchestrated the killing and determining whether the operation was part of a larger organized criminal network operating across state lines.
