Gujarat has made significant progress in its ongoing electoral roll revision exercise, with approximately 77% of the collected electoral forms now digitised, according to the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO). The initiative is part of a statewide effort to create a more accurate, transparent, and updated voter database ahead of future elections.

The digitisation process plays a crucial role in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, which aims to verify voter information, remove duplicate or ineligible entries, update changes in residence, and ensure that every eligible citizen is included in the voter list. Election authorities have described the progress as encouraging, with work advancing steadily across districts through the coordinated efforts of election officials, Booth Level Officers (BLOs), and local administrative staff.

Extensive Verification Process Underway

Officials explained that digitisation involves converting physical electoral forms into digital records, making it easier to verify, update, and maintain voter information. The digital system enables authorities to identify discrepancies, correct errors, and process electoral data more efficiently than traditional manual methods.

The revision exercise is designed to eliminate duplicate registrations, remove the names of deceased or ineligible voters, update addresses of citizens who have relocated, and include newly eligible voters who have completed the required registration process. By digitising these records, election officials aim to improve the overall accuracy and reliability of the state’s electoral rolls.

Strong Progress Across Districts

The digitisation campaign has witnessed steady progress in districts across Gujarat. Election authorities are continuously monitoring the pace of work to ensure that the exercise is completed within the prescribed timeline while maintaining high standards of accuracy.

Election authorities have appealed to the public to cooperate fully with officials during the verification process by providing accurate information and submitting any required documents within the specified deadlines.
