Air India Delhi–Bengaluru Flight Grounded After Tail Strike Incident During Landing

An Air India passenger aircraft operating on the Delhi–Bengaluru route was grounded following a tail strike incident that occurred during its landing phase. The aircraft reportedly made contact with the runway with its tail section while touching down, triggering immediate safety protocols and inspections by aviation authorities.

According to preliminary information, the incident took place during landing when the aircraft experienced an abnormal touchdown, resulting in the rear section striking the runway surface. Despite the impact, all passengers and crew members onboard were reported safe, and no injuries were reported.

Following the incident, the aircraft was taken out of service for a detailed technical examination. Aviation engineers and safety teams initiated a thorough inspection to assess possible structural damage to the fuselage and tail assembly. Such inspections are standard procedure in tail strike cases, as even minor contact with the runway can potentially affect aircraft integrity.  Air India Delhi-Bengaluru flight grounded after tail strike landing

Airport authorities and airline officials coordinated to manage the situation and minimize operational disruption. Alternative arrangements were reportedly made for passengers to continue their journey, although schedules were temporarily affected due to the grounding of the aircraft.

A tail strike is considered a serious aviation safety event and typically triggers mandatory reporting and investigation by regulatory bodies. The incident is expected to be reviewed to determine contributing factors such as landing approach, aircraft speed, descent angle, and weather conditions at the time.

The airline is also likely to submit a detailed incident report, while maintenance teams continue evaluating whether the aircraft can be returned to service after repairs and clearance.
