Married Woman, Husband and Kin Kill Lover, Hide Body in Drum Before Dumping It in Thane Drain

A disturbing murder case from Maharashtra has shocked investigators after a woman, along with her husband and close relatives, allegedly killed her lover, concealed his body inside a large plastic drum, and disposed of it in a drain in the Thane region.

According to police officials, the incident dates back to early April when the victim, a young man from Mumbra in the Thane district, went missing after leaving home for work. When he failed to return and could not be traced, his family lodged a missing person complaint, prompting a detailed investigation.

As police began examining his mobile phone records and last known movements, they traced his location to the Vasai area. Investigators also found that his alleged girlfriend was present in the same locality around the time he disappeared, raising suspicion and leading to her detention for questioning.

During interrogation, the woman initially denied involvement. However, officials stated that she eventually confessed to her role in the crime and revealed the involvement of her husband, brother, and another associate.  Maharashtra's Green Drum Murder: Engineer Killed By Married Lover, Case Revives Meerut Blue Drum Horror

Investigators said the accused group allegedly plotted the crime after a dispute and failed financial expectations involving the victim. Their initial intent, according to police, was to extract money from him. When the attempt failed, the situation escalated into violence.

The victim was reportedly restrained, assaulted, and killed by the group. Following the murder, the accused allegedly placed the body inside a large drum and transported it to a secluded area in Mumbra, where it was dumped into a drain in an effort to destroy evidence.

Following the confession, police arrested the woman and her brother. Her husband and another alleged accomplice are currently absconding, and search operations are underway to trace them.

Officials have registered a case under sections related to murder and criminal conspiracy. The investigation is ongoing, with authorities examining digital evidence, call records, and witness statements to reconstruct the sequence of events leading up to the killing.

The case has drawn attention due to its resemblance to earlier high-profile “drum murder” incidents reported in other parts of the country, where victims’ bodies were similarly concealed to delay detection.

Police have assured a thorough probe and stated that further arrests are likely as the investigation progresses.
