Delhi Police Arrest Influencer ‘The Skin Doctor’ Over Alleged Posts on Sunjay Kapur Family

Social media influencer and dermatologist Neelam Singh, popularly known online as “The Skin Doctor,” has been arrested by Delhi Police following allegations that she posted objectionable content related to the family of late businessman Sunjay Kapur. The arrest has sparked widespread debate on social media regarding freedom of expression, defamation, and legal accountability for online commentary.

According to police sources, the action was initiated after members of the Kapur family lodged a formal complaint alleging that several social media posts made by the influencer contained defamatory and objectionable remarks following Sunjay Kapur’s death. The complaint reportedly accused the influencer of circulating speculative claims and raising questions about the circumstances surrounding Kapur’s death and matters connected to his will.

Investigators stated that the complaint was filed at a police station in southwest Delhi, after which authorities began examining the content shared through the influencer’s social media accounts. Police later called Neelam Singh for questioning before proceeding with her arrest as part of the ongoing investigation.    द स्किन डॉक्टर' कौन हैं? संजय कपूर के परिवार के बारे में पोस्ट करने के आरोप में किया गया गिरफ्तार, 5 घंटे में मिली जमानत | Jansatta

Officials familiar with the matter said the controversial posts allegedly suggested suspicious circumstances surrounding Kapur’s death. Some of the posts were later deleted from social media platforms, but screenshots had already circulated online, intensifying public discussion around the issue. Authorities are also examining whether other individuals or influencers were involved in amplifying the disputed content online.

Police sources further indicated that the FIR reportedly includes references to additional social media personalities whose online activities may also come under scrutiny as the investigation progresses. Law enforcement agencies are examining digital records, social media interactions, and the timeline of the posts to determine whether any legal provisions related to defamation, misinformation, or public mischief were violated.

The arrest has generated mixed reactions across social media platforms. Supporters of the influencer argued that online commentary and questioning should not automatically lead to criminal action, while others defended the police action, saying that unverified allegations against grieving families can cause serious reputational harm. Legal experts have also weighed in, noting that Indian laws permit police action in cases where online content is considered defamatory, misleading, or harmful to public order.

Neelam Singh, who built a significant following online through skincare content and commentary on trending issues, is known for maintaining an active presence on social media platforms. Her arrest quickly became a trending topic, with several public figures, influencers, and commentators discussing the broader implications of policing online speech in India.

Meanwhile, the investigation remains ongoing, and authorities are expected to continue examining digital evidence connected to the case. No detailed public statement has yet been issued regarding the exact legal sections invoked against the influencer, though officials confirmed that the matter is being treated seriously due to the nature of the allegations and the public attention surrounding the case.
