A series of explosion-like incidents near key security establishments in Punjab has raised serious concerns over regional security, prompting authorities to intensify surveillance and launch detailed investigations. The twin incidents occurred within hours of each other in Jalandhar and Amritsar, both locations housing sensitive defence and paramilitary infrastructure.

Officials have confirmed that while no casualties have been reported so far, the nature of the blasts and their proximity to strategic sites have triggered alarm across the state.

The first incident was reported on Tuesday evening in Jalandhar, where a powerful explosion occurred near the Border Security Force (BSF) Punjab Frontier headquarters. Preliminary findings suggest that a two-wheeler, possibly a scooter, was the source of the blast, which took place in a busy area close to the BSF Chowk.

The explosion caused panic among residents and passersby, with eyewitnesses reporting a sudden fire and loud noise. Law enforcement agencies quickly reached the scene, secured the area, and began collecting evidence. Investigators are examining CCTV footage and questioning individuals linked to the vehicle to determine whether the blast was accidental or deliberate.

Just hours after the Jalandhar incident, a second explosion was reported in the Khasa area of Amritsar, near a cantonment zone housing both Army and BSF establishments.

The blast occurred late at night and was strong enough to be heard across nearby areas, sparking fear among local residents. Security forces, including bomb disposal squads and forensic teams, were immediately deployed. Initial assessments indicate that a two-wheeler parked near a boundary wall may have been involved in the explosion.

Authorities have confirmed that no injuries or fatalities have been reported in either incident, which has brought some relief. However, the targeting—or apparent proximity—of defence-related zones has heightened concerns about potential security threats.

Both locations were swiftly cordoned off, and extensive searches were conducted to rule out additional threats. Forensic teams are currently analyzing samples collected from the blast sites.

Preliminary reports indicate that a pro-Khalistan group has claimed responsibility for the attacks, though officials have not yet confirmed the authenticity of these claims.

Security agencies are also examining the possibility of cross-border involvement or coordinated planning, given Punjab’s geographical sensitivity and past incidents linked to extremist activities.

Following the incidents, security has been tightened across Punjab, especially around military installations, public spaces, and border regions. Additional checkpoints have been set up, and surveillance has been increased to prevent further incidents.
