Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has revealed that he was diagnosed with an early-stage prostate cancer but has successfully undergone treatment, with no remaining signs of the disease.
In a statement shared on X, Netanyahu said his annual medical report was deliberately delayed by two months to avoid its release during the peak of the war, citing concerns it could be used for propaganda by Iran.
He reassured the public about his health, stating that he is in ‘excellent physical condition’ and that the issue has been fully resolved.
Netanyahu explained that during routine monitoring following a previous surgery for an enlarged benign prostate about a year and a half ago, doctors discovered a tiny spot less than a centimeter which was later identified as a very early-stage malignant tumor. According to him, the cancer had not spread.
Doctors had presented two options: active monitoring or immediate treatment. Netanyahu chose to undergo targeted treatment, saying he prefers to address potential risks promptly. He noted that the treatment was brief and did not disrupt his work significantly.
“The spot disappeared completely… I overcame this too,” he said, thanking medical teams at Hadassah Medical Center for their care.
He also urged the public to prioritise regular health check-ups and follow medical advice, while offering prayers for those injured amid the ongoing conflict.
