A woman motorcyclist was injured in Gurgaon after a car allegedly followed her, repeatedly attempted to block her path and eventually rammed into her motorcycle on Golf Course Road. The incident, which occurred on Sunday, was captured on the rider’s dashcam and has since drawn widespread attention on social media.
The woman, identified as Sia, was riding an Aprilia RS 457 sports bike with members of a motorcycle group when the incident took place. Footage from her camera appears to show a car with a Haryana registration number following the group before moving sharply towards her lane and colliding with her motorcycle.
Rider alleges occupants appeared drunk
According to Sia, the incident began soon after the group started its ride. She alleged that the occupants of the car were behaving aggressively and appeared to be under the influence of alcohol.
Sia said she asked the occupants to maintain a safe distance. Instead, she alleged, the men became hostile and demanded that she stop her motorcycle.
Concerned that the vehicle could block her path, she continued riding forward. A fellow biker travelling behind her also attempted to remain close and protect her from the pursuing car.
The situation escalated when the car allegedly moved directly in front of Sia’s motorcycle. The vehicle then struck the bike, throwing the rider onto the road. Her motorcycle was reportedly dragged for a short distance before the car sped away from the location.
Friend follows car after collision
Following the crash, another member of the biking group chased the car and managed to catch up with it at a nearby traffic signal.
The rider confronted the driver about the collision. However, according to the account shared by Sia, the driver denied responsibility. When the traffic signal changed, the car allegedly accelerated away before the riders could stop it.
Sia suffered injuries in the crash. Fellow riders said that the protective equipment she was wearing helped reduce the seriousness of the injuries.
The incident has raised concerns over aggressive driving and the safety of two-wheeler riders on busy roads in Gurgaon, particularly when motorists allegedly engage in dangerous behaviour involving vulnerable road users.)
Dashcam footage sparks concern
The incident was recorded on Sia’s motorcycle-mounted camera. The footage was later shared online, where it attracted significant attention from motorists, bikers and other social media users.
Several people called for action against the occupants of the car and urged the authorities to investigate allegations of dangerous driving, deliberate collision and fleeing the scene.
Sia also expressed concern about road safety, saying the experience left her feeling unsafe while riding in Gurgaon. She appealed to the authorities to take strict action against people who allegedly endanger other road users and leave the scene after a collision.
Police ask rider to file formal complaint
Police officials said they had taken note of the video and contacted the woman through social media. Authorities asked her to appear before them and submit a formal complaint so that an investigation could be initiated based on the specific allegations.
Police indicated that a formal complaint would allow investigators to examine the circumstances surrounding the incident and take appropriate legal action.
The case has also renewed attention on the importance of responsible driving, particularly on roads used heavily by motorcyclists. A collision involving a car and a two-wheeler can have serious consequences, making aggressive pursuit, unsafe lane changes and reckless driving especially dangerous.
As the video continues to circulate online, the incident has prompted calls for accountability and greater road safety measures in Gurgaon. Further action is expected once the rider formally approaches the police with her complaint.
