Five members of a family were found dead inside a lodge in Srisailam, Andhra Pradesh, in a case that police suspect could be linked to a suicide pact. The incident has triggered an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the deaths, with financial difficulties, health concerns and family-related problems reportedly being examined as possible factors.

The deceased have been identified as 36-year-old Sudhakar and his three sisters—50-year-old Adilakshmi, 45-year-old Malleswari and 33-year-old Sridevi. Malleswari’s 15-year-old son, Manikantha, was also among those found dead.

The family was reportedly from Battalapalli in Sri Sathya Sai district and had travelled to Srisailam before taking accommodation at a lodge in the temple town.

Bodies Discovered Inside Lodge

The deaths came to light after lodge staff noticed a foul smell coming from the room occupied by the family. Concerned by the situation, the staff alerted the police, following which officers reached the premises and inspected the room.

Police found all five family members dead inside the accommodation. According to the preliminary investigation, Sudhakar and the teenage boy were found in the hall, while the three women were found in the bathroom.

The bodies were subsequently shifted to a government hospital, where post-mortem examinations were conducted or arranged to determine the exact cause and circumstances of death.

Police have begun collecting evidence from the lodge and are questioning people who may have interacted with the family before the incident.

Family Reportedly Facing Several Difficulties

Preliminary inquiries indicate that the family had been dealing with a number of personal, financial and health-related problems.

Sudhakar was reportedly working as an autorickshaw driver and was one of the family’s earning members. Police inquiries also indicated that one of the women had been suffering from paralysis.

Two of the sisters were reportedly separated from their husbands and had been living with their family. Their family had also experienced significant personal losses over the years. Their father, Peddanna, died around a decade ago, while their mother, Sanjamma, passed away approximately four years ago.

Investigators are looking into whether these circumstances contributed to the deaths. However, police have not yet established a definitive motive, and the suspected suicide angle remains under investigation.

Questions Over Their Stay in Srisailam

Police are also examining the family’s movements and the exact duration of their stay in Srisailam.

The family reportedly stayed at Vaddera Satram, a lodging facility in the temple town. Investigators are examining lodge records and questioning staff to determine when the family arrived, how long they remained inside the room and whether anyone visited them during their stay.

The fact that the family remained inside the room for an extended period before the bodies were discovered has become an important part of the investigation.

Police are expected to verify travel details, accommodation records, phone information and statements from relatives to reconstruct the family’s final days.

Police Probe Continues

Authorities are investigating the case from multiple angles. While preliminary findings have led police to suspect suicide, officials are waiting for forensic and post-mortem findings before reaching a final conclusion.

Investigators will examine the circumstances inside the room, available physical evidence and the family’s recent activities. Statements from relatives and acquaintances may also help establish whether the family had been facing severe financial or personal pressure.

Officials have not indicated that foul play has been established at this stage. The exact cause and circumstances of the deaths will become clearer after the completion of the investigation and examination of forensic evidence.
