Three men have been arrested in Karnataka’s Mysuru district in connection with the alleged abduction and gang rape of a 30-year-old tribal woman from West Bengal, police said on Tuesday. The incident reportedly occurred during the intervening night of July 18 and 19, after the woman had travelled to Mysuru city to attend a friend’s birthday celebration.
According to the police complaint and the First Information Report (FIR), the woman was allegedly intercepted near a private bus stand in T Narasipura town while she was returning home by private bus. The accused reportedly approached her in a grey-coloured car and allegedly used a written note to ask her for directions.
The woman reportedly told the driver that she could not understand the address because it was written in Kannada. Police said that, according to her complaint, two men sitting in the rear of the vehicle then opened the door and forcibly pulled her inside.
The accused have been identified as Kiran, Kishore and Ryan, all residents of T Narasipura, according to the FIR registered by T Narasipura police.
Woman Allegedly Taken to Lodge Near Mooguru
The complaint states that the three men allegedly drove the woman towards Mooguru village along the road leading to the Gunja Narasimhaswamy Temple. During the journey, the accused allegedly threatened to kill her if she shouted for help or attempted to raise an alarm.
Police said the woman alleged that the men deliberately stopped at several locations near different hotels while travelling, apparently to prevent her from identifying the place where she was eventually taken.
According to the FIR, the accused subsequently took her to a room at an unidentified lodge near Mooguru village. The woman alleged that she was assaulted there and sexually assaulted by the three men one after another.
The complaint further alleges that the accused threatened to kill her and demanded money from her. They allegedly took ₹5,000 in cash and two mobile phones from her before leaving the lodge. 
Woman Allegedly Persuaded Accused to Take Her Home
According to the police account, the woman then told the accused that a larger amount of money—around ₹1 lakh—was available at her residence. She allegedly persuaded them to take her there.
The FIR states that the accused eventually dropped her near her residence in the early hours of July 19. The woman then reportedly alerted her landlord, who contacted the police and informed them about the incident.
Police said the accused allegedly fled from the area in their vehicle after noticing a police vehicle approaching.
Investigation Underway
The woman was initially taken to the T Narasipura police station. She was later brought to an integrated care centre at KR Hospital in Mysuru, where her statement was recorded, police said.
The case was formally registered on July 19 under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Police have arrested the three accused and launched an investigation into the allegations.
Investigators are expected to examine the circumstances surrounding the alleged abduction, identify the lodge where the woman was reportedly taken and gather evidence relevant to the case. Further details are likely to emerge as the investigation progresses.
The allegations are serious, and the accused will face due legal proceedings. As the investigation and judicial process continue, the claims made in the complaint remain allegations until established before a court of law.
