A major controversy has erupted at Lucknow University after an assistant professor from the institution’s Zoology Department was detained by police following allegations of examination paper leaks and inappropriate conduct involving a female student. The incident has triggered outrage across academic circles and raised fresh concerns about the integrity of examination systems in higher educational institutions.

The accused, identified as Paramjeet Singh, was taken into custody after audio recordings allegedly featuring conversations between him and a female student surfaced on social media. According to officials, the recordings contain claims suggesting the professor offered unfair academic advantages and hinted at leaking examination question papers in exchange for personal favors.

The matter reportedly came to light after the student informed university authorities about the alleged harassment and pressure she faced. Soon after the complaint was submitted, the audio clips began circulating online, leading to widespread criticism and demands for strict action against the accused. Police authorities subsequently registered a case and initiated questioning. 

University officials stated that the institution follows a strict zero-tolerance policy toward any activity that compromises academic ethics, student safety, or the dignity of the university environment. The administration confirmed that an internal inquiry has been launched and that disciplinary proceedings would follow depending on the outcome of the investigation.

The Vice Chancellor of the university has reportedly directed the Internal Complaints Committee to conduct an urgent probe into the allegations. Authorities are also examining whether any actual examination papers were leaked or if the claims were merely used to manipulate and intimidate the student. Investigators are currently verifying the authenticity of the viral recordings and collecting digital evidence connected to the case.

The accused professor has denied all allegations, claiming he is being targeted due to internal university politics. However, the seriousness of the accusations has intensified public attention, particularly because the case involves both alleged academic malpractice and misconduct toward a student.

Student groups and activists have strongly condemned the incident, demanding swift legal action and stronger safeguards within universities to protect students from exploitation and abuse of authority. The controversy has once again drawn attention to recurring concerns over examination irregularities and institutional accountability in the education sector.
