Khushi Kapoor Missed Out on ‘Peddi’ Role as Janhvi Kapoor Landed Achiyamma Character

In an interesting behind-the-scenes revelation from the upcoming Telugu big-budget entertainer Peddi, director Buchi Babu Sana has disclosed that actress Khushi Kapoor was initially considered for the role of Achiyamma before the character eventually went to her elder sister Janhvi Kapoor. The film stars Ram Charan in the lead and has already generated immense anticipation among fans across India.

According to recent reports, the filmmakers had originally approached Khushi Kapoor for the rural character of Achiyamma during the early stages of casting. However, after discussions and internal evaluations, the makers reportedly decided that the role required a stronger screen presence and more established pan-India recognition. This ultimately led to Janhvi Kapoor being cast in the pivotal female lead role opposite Ram Charan.

The revelation has sparked fresh conversations in entertainment circles, especially because the two Kapoor sisters belong to one of Bollywood’s most prominent film families. While Janhvi has already established herself with multiple Hindi film projects and is expanding into South Indian cinema, Khushi is still in the relatively early phase of her acting career.  Ram Charan Peddi Update: Star-Studded Song, Big Role Twist - India Weekly

Janhvi Kapoor’s role in Peddi has already become a major talking point after the release of her first-look posters from the film. She will portray Achiyamma, described by the makers as a “fierce and fearless” woman rooted in rural culture. Promotional material released earlier showcased Janhvi in a rustic avatar, significantly different from her previous glamorous urban-screen appearances.

Directed by Buchi Babu Sana, Peddi is positioned as a large-scale sports action drama with strong emotional and rural elements. The film marks Janhvi Kapoor’s major Telugu-language collaboration with Ram Charan and is among the most awaited pan-India releases of the year. The project also features prominent actors including Shiva Rajkumar, Jagapathi Babu, and Divyenndu in important roles.

Industry observers believe the casting change reflects the growing emphasis on market reach and star appeal in major Telugu productions targeting nationwide audiences. Janhvi’s increasing popularity, combined with her recent entry into South Indian cinema, likely played a role in the final decision.

Meanwhile, Khushi Kapoor continues to build her career with younger audience-focused projects and digital-era storytelling. Despite missing out on Peddi, industry insiders believe the actress remains one of the emerging names to watch in the coming years.

The buzz surrounding Peddi has intensified further ahead of its trailer launch, with the makers steadily unveiling new promotional material and character reveals. Reports suggest the film is being mounted on a massive scale with music composed by A. R. Rahman and a theatrical release planned later this year.
