In a major anti-trafficking operation, Bengaluru Police arrested two women accused of operating an alleged prostitution racket from rented residential properties across the city. Authorities also rescued three women during coordinated raids carried out by the Central Crime Branch’s (CCB) Women Protection Squad.
According to police officials, the operation was launched following specific intelligence inputs regarding illegal activities being conducted from rented accommodations in the Ajith Nagar and Vidhyaman Nagar areas of Bengaluru. Acting on the tip-off, officers conducted surveillance and later raided the identified premises on different dates.
During the raids, investigators detained two women believed to be key operators of the alleged racket. Police said the accused were allegedly involved in arranging prostitution services by contacting customers through mobile phones and directing them to the rented houses where the activities were being conducted.
Three Women Rescued During Raids
Authorities confirmed that three women were rescued during the operation. Officials stated that the rescued women are being provided necessary assistance and support as part of ongoing procedures.
Police sources indicated that the accused allegedly used rented houses in different localities to avoid suspicion and continue operations discreetly. Investigators believe the network may have been functioning for some time before the raids were conducted.
During questioning, the accused reportedly admitted that they contacted men seeking prostitution services and arranged meetings at the rented properties in exchange for money. Officials said the operation appeared to be financially motivated and organised in nature.
Cases Registered at Multiple Police Stations
Following the raids, criminal cases were registered at Soladevanahalli and Byadarahalli police stations. Authorities have launched a detailed investigation to determine whether additional individuals were involved in the network and to identify any larger trafficking links.
Police are also examining digital evidence, including mobile phone records and communication details, to trace possible clients and associates connected to the alleged racket.
The Bengaluru Police Commissioner’s office said the investigation remains ongoing and further arrests have not been ruled out.
Rising Focus on Human Trafficking and Exploitation Cases
The latest crackdown comes amid increasing efforts by Bengaluru’s law enforcement agencies to combat organised prostitution and human trafficking networks operating through rented homes, spas, lodges, and online channels.
Anti-trafficking activists have repeatedly stressed the importance of rehabilitation, counselling, and legal support for rescued women, while urging stricter monitoring of organised networks involved in exploitation.
Officials said further investigation into the case is underway to uncover the full extent of the alleged operation and identify any broader connections linked to trafficking activities in the city.
