Despite Ukraine’s unilateral declaration of a ceasefire aimed at reducing hostilities, Russian forces carried out extensive drone attacks overnight, intensifying the ongoing conflict and casting doubt on prospects for de-escalation.

Ukrainian authorities reported that dozens of drones were launched shortly after the ceasefire window was expected to begin, striking multiple regions across the country. Air defence systems were activated in several areas as military units attempted to intercept incoming threats.

Officials in Kyiv described the timing of the strikes as a clear indication that Moscow did not intend to observe the temporary truce. The attacks, they said, targeted both civilian infrastructure and strategic locations, further aggravating an already volatile security situation.
