A high-profile murder in Chandigarh’s upscale Sector 9 has been traced back to a bitter property dispute, with investigators uncovering a chilling conspiracy involving financial grievances, alleged fraud, and links to organized crime.
The victim, a 31-year-old property dealer, was shot dead on March 18, 2026, outside a gym parking area in Sector 9. According to police findings, two assailants carried out the attack in broad daylight, firing multiple rounds before fleeing the scene. The killing shocked residents of the otherwise secure locality and prompted an intensive investigation by the Chandigarh Police.
Authorities have identified the primary motive behind the killing as a deep-seated grudge over a property transaction in New Chandigarh. The accused, a woman residing in Sector 35, allegedly believed she had been cheated in a land deal facilitated by the victim.
Investigators revealed that she accused the property dealer of selling land at an inflated price and failing to hand over possession, resulting in significant financial losses. This perceived betrayal reportedly fueled resentment and a desire for retaliation.
Police investigations indicate that the conspiracy began taking shape in 2025, when the accused and her associates explored ways to resolve the dispute. Over time, the plan escalated into a contract killing.
The accused allegedly contacted intermediaries, including another property dealer, who connected her with a known gangster through encrypted communication channels. She is believed to have offered a substantial financial reward in exchange for orchestrating the killing.
The gangster network then arranged logistics, including weapons, transportation, and hiring shooters to execute the crime. On the day of the incident, the hired gunmen ambushed the victim and carried out the killing as planned.
The breakthrough in the case came with the arrest of a key intermediary in late April 2026. During the operation, police recovered an imported firearm and live cartridges, reportedly linked to the accused.
Subsequent investigations led to the arrest of the alleged mastermind. Authorities confirmed that she had been in regular contact with the gangster network and played a central role in planning and financing the killing.
The case has also exposed a broader nexus between local property disputes and organized crime, raising concerns about the increasing involvement of criminal syndicates in real estate conflicts.
This case highlights how financial disputes in high-value property transactions can escalate into violent crimes. Law enforcement agencies are continuing their probe to identify additional accomplices and trace the financial trail behind the killing.
Officials have indicated that further arrests may follow as the investigation expands to uncover the full extent of the criminal network involved.
