Vladimir Putin is reportedly expected to visit India this September, according to the Kremlin, in a move that highlights the continued strength of India-Russia relations.

The visit is likely to focus on expanding cooperation in key areas such as defence, energy, trade, and regional security, as both nations look to deepen their long-standing strategic partnership amid evolving global geopolitical dynamics.

The announcement comes as India and Russia recently reviewed their ties during the second international conference titled “Russia and India: Towards a New Agenda for Bilateral Relations.”

Held under the Russian International Affairs Council, the conference brought together experts, diplomats, and academics from both countries to discuss key bilateral and global issues.

Discussions focused on geopolitical shifts, including tensions in the Middle East, global economic changes, and the need for stronger policy coordination between the two nations.

According to reports, India is gaining “utmost respect” for its independent foreign policy and its emphasis on national interests. This approach has strengthened its position as a major political and economic power in an emerging multipolar world.

The India-Russia partnership continues to be described as a model relationship built on mutual trust, equality, and shared strategic interests.

Bilateral trade between the two countries reached approximately USD 60 billion in 2025, with both sides aiming to scale it up to USD 100 billion by 2030.

India and Russia also maintain close coordination across major global platforms, including the United Nations, BRICS, Shanghai Cooperation Organisation, and the G20.

With India holding the BRICS chairmanship this year, Russia has expressed full support for India’s leadership role.

The upcoming visit is expected to further reinforce diplomatic engagement between Narendra Modi and Putin, building on recent high-level exchanges and setting the tone for future cooperation.

Both nations have reiterated their commitment to strengthening ties and navigating global challenges together, underlining the enduring importance of the India-Russia partnership.
