Defence Ministry Refutes Reports of Halting US Defence Deals, Labels Them ‘False and Fabricated’

The Indian Ministry of Defence has firmly denied media reports suggesting that India has paused or cancelled any of its ongoing or planned defence deals with the United States. In an official statement, the Ministry dismissed the claims as “false and fabricated,” clarifying that there has been no decision taken to suspend any procurement or bilateral discussions related to defence acquisitions from the US.

The denial follows reports quoting unnamed sources that India had suspended talks on key deals involving American weapons, aircraft, and missile systems amid ongoing trade tensions with the US. These reports also claimed that Defence Minister Rajnath Singh’s proposed US visit had been called off as a result. However, the Defence Ministry has reiterated that all engagements and negotiations continue as scheduled and that such speculation is unfounded.

Officials further emphasized that India remains committed to strengthening its strategic defence partnerships, including with the United States, and that news reports suggesting otherwise aim to mislead the public and damage bilateral relations.
