Mumbai Woman Harassed as Loan App Firm Circulates Morphed Nude Photos Despite Loan Repayment

In a shocking case of online harassment, a 25-year-old woman from Mumbai’s Kranti Nagar, Jogeshwari West, was allegedly targeted by a loan app company that shared her morphed nude photographs with her relatives and friends despite her repaying more than the borrowed amount.

According to police, the woman came across an advertisement for a mobile app named “Cash Loan” on Instagram on July 20. Desperate for money, she downloaded the app and provided personal details, including her Aadhaar card and bank account information, to apply for a loan of ₹2,000. However, she received only ₹1,300 for a loan tenure of six days.

Before the repayment period ended, the woman reportedly began receiving threatening calls from a man claiming to be an employee of the loan firm. He threatened to circulate obscene morphed images of her on social media if she failed to return the loan immediately.

Terrified, the woman transferred ₹1,000 twice via a payment app to a person identified as “Sandesh Kumar.” Despite the repayment, her aunt soon received a morphed nude photograph of the victim on WhatsApp from an unknown number. Within minutes, the same image was sent to two of her friends.

The accused allegedly continued to threaten her, saying he would destroy her reputation. Distressed, the victim informed her father, who approached the police. Based on her complaint, an FIR has been registered, and investigations are ongoing to trace the culprits.
