Union Minister Bandi Sanjay has called for a thorough investigation into the alleged diversion of Central government funds in Telangana, accusing the state government of failing to utilize financial assistance for its intended developmental purposes. The senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader said the matter requires an impartial inquiry to determine whether public funds allocated by the Centre were misused and to ensure accountability if any irregularities are found.
Addressing the issue, Sanjay alleged that financial assistance released by the Union government for rural development and local governance was diverted instead of being used for projects aimed at improving public infrastructure and welfare. He claimed that such actions have adversely affected Gram Panchayats and local bodies, leaving them with insufficient resources to carry out essential civic works and development projects.
According to the minister, Central funds are sanctioned with specific objectives and strict guidelines to ensure they benefit the public. He argued that any deviation from these objectives not only disrupts development but also weakens public confidence in the implementation of welfare schemes. He maintained that transparency in the utilization of public money is essential for effective governance.
Sanjay stated that villages and local governing institutions have been facing financial challenges due to the alleged diversion of funds. He said the lack of adequate financial support has delayed several developmental initiatives, including improvements in roads, sanitation, drinking water facilities, and other essential public services that directly impact the lives of rural residents.
The Union minister stressed that taxpayers’ money should be used responsibly and exclusively for the purposes for which it is allocated. He asserted that every rupee provided by the Central government for welfare and development must reach its intended destination without being diverted for unrelated expenditures. He added that financial discipline and accountability are fundamental to ensuring the success of government-funded programmes.
Demanding an independent inquiry, Sanjay said the investigation should examine how Central funds were utilized, verify whether any financial irregularities occurred, and identify individuals responsible if misuse is established. He emphasized that corrective measures and appropriate legal action should be taken wherever necessary to protect public resources.
The minister also highlighted the importance of cooperation between the Centre and the state in implementing welfare programmes effectively.
