A tragic road accident in Uttar Pradesh’s Rampur district claimed the lives of three residents of Delhi and left four others seriously injured after the car they were travelling in rammed into a stationary canter truck parked along the roadside. The devastating collision occurred during the early hours of Friday, highlighting yet another fatal highway accident involving a parked heavy vehicle.
According to police officials, the victims were travelling together in a car when the driver reportedly failed to notice the parked canter truck in time. The vehicle crashed into the rear of the truck with significant force, causing extensive damage to the front portion of the car and trapping several occupants inside.
Three Occupants Die at the Scene
Emergency responders and local police rushed to the accident site soon after receiving information about the collision. Rescue teams worked to pull the victims from the badly mangled vehicle.
Three occupants suffered fatal injuries and were declared dead. The deceased were identified as residents of Delhi who were travelling together at the time of the accident. Their bodies were sent for post-mortem examination following the completion of preliminary legal procedures.
Authorities informed the victims’ families about the tragedy, and arrangements were initiated to hand over the bodies after the necessary formalities.
Four Injured Shifted to Hospital
Four other passengers travelling in the same vehicle sustained injuries of varying severity. Local residents, police personnel, and emergency services helped rescue the injured before they were transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
Hospital officials stated that some of the injured suffered serious trauma and remain under medical observation. Their condition is being closely monitored while they receive treatment.
Police Begin Investigation
Police have registered a case and launched an investigation to determine the exact circumstances that led to the accident. Initial findings suggest that poor visibility, high speed, driver fatigue, or failure to notice the stationary truck could have contributed to the collision. However, investigators said the precise cause will be established only after a detailed examination of the accident scene and available evidence.
Officials are also examining whether the parked canter truck was stationed in accordance with traffic regulations and whether adequate warning signs or reflective markers had been placed to alert approaching motorists.
Highway Safety Concerns Raised Again
The fatal crash has once again drawn attention to the dangers posed by heavy vehicles parked on highways without sufficient warning measures. Road safety experts have repeatedly stressed the importance of proper hazard lights, reflective triangles, and other visibility devices to prevent such collisions, particularly during nighttime or low-visibility conditions.
Authorities have urged motorists to remain cautious while travelling on highways, maintain safe speeds, and stay alert to unexpected obstacles on the road. Drivers of commercial vehicles have also been reminded to follow parking regulations and ensure appropriate safety precautions whenever stopping on highways.
Investigation Continues
Police are continuing their investigation, including recording witness statements, inspecting the damaged vehicles, and collecting forensic evidence from the accident site. A detailed report is expected to determine whether negligence or violations of traffic safety rules contributed to the fatal collision.
The incident serves as another reminder of the urgent need for stricter enforcement of highway safety measures and greater awareness among motorists to reduce the number of fatal road accidents across the country.
