The West Bengal government has initiated a fresh restructuring of security arrangements for several politicians, former bureaucrats, and prominent individuals following an extensive review of threat perceptions and police deployment priorities. The move, which officials described as part of an administrative reassessment exercise, has resulted in the withdrawal of house guards and a reduction in security personnel assigned to multiple high-profile individuals across the state.

According to senior administrative sources, the review was conducted by security agencies and senior police officials who evaluated the current threat level faced by various protectees. Following the assessment, authorities concluded that several individuals no longer required the same degree of security coverage that had previously been sanctioned.

The latest decision is being viewed as part of a broader effort to rationalize the deployment of police resources and ensure that security personnel are allocated based on updated intelligence inputs rather than earlier threat assessments.
