In a shocking case of domestic violence from Uttar Pradesh, a 25-year-old man was arrested after allegedly strangling his wife to death over suspicions of an extramarital affair and later attempting to mislead police by filing a missing person complaint. The accused reportedly transported the woman’s body in a sack and dumped it near a dam on the outskirts of Lucknow before approaching authorities with a fabricated story.

According to police officials, the incident took place in the Chinhat area of Lucknow. The accused, identified as Altaf alias Kallu, allegedly killed his 24-year-old wife Yasmeen following a heated argument at their residence. Investigators said the couple had been experiencing frequent disputes, with the husband suspecting that his wife was involved in an affair with one of his close relatives.

Authorities stated that tensions between the couple had been escalating for several weeks. On the night of the incident, the confrontation reportedly turned violent, leading to the alleged murder. Police believe the accused strangled Yasmeen during the altercation before attempting to conceal the crime.   

In an effort to destroy evidence and evade suspicion, the accused allegedly stuffed the victim’s body into a sack and transported it in a battery-operated e-rickshaw from Barabanki to Lucknow, covering a distance of nearly 30 kilometres. Investigators said the body was later dumped near the Indira Dam area under the BBD police station limits.

The case took a dramatic turn when the accused himself arrived at a police station to report his wife missing. Officers reportedly noticed inconsistencies in his statements and behaviour during questioning. Suspicious of his account, police intensified the interrogation, during which the accused allegedly confessed to the crime.

Following the confession, police recovered Yasmeen’s body and sent it for post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause and time of death. Officials confirmed that a case has been registered and further investigation is underway to reconstruct the sequence of events and gather forensic evidence.

The incident has once again drawn attention to rising cases of domestic violence and crimes driven by suspicion and relationship disputes. Law enforcement authorities said they are examining all aspects of the case, including the couple’s personal history and the events leading up to the murder.
