BJP Questions Rahul Gandhi Over Alleged Undisclosed Foreign Visits, Including Oman Trip; Demands Transparency on Travel Records

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has launched a fresh political attack on Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, raising concerns over his alleged undisclosed foreign travel, including a recent visit to Oman. The party has demanded a detailed explanation regarding the purpose, funding, and official clearance for his overseas trips, alleging multiple procedural violations.

Addressing a press briefing, BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra claimed that Gandhi had undertaken a large number of international visits over the past two decades, some of which, according to him, were not formally disclosed. He further alleged that several of these trips were flagged in internal communications related to security protocols for protected individuals.

Patra asserted that Gandhi had reportedly made dozens of foreign trips over the last 22 years and questioned whether proper permissions had been obtained from the relevant authorities for each journey. He also claimed that certain visits had not been reflected in official disclosures, raising concerns over compliance with established rules governing foreign travel of high-profile public representatives.    BJP says Rahul Gandhi was in Vietnam during Holi, questions Congress leader's frequency of visits - India Today

A key focus of the BJP’s allegations centred on Gandhi’s recent travel to Oman, which the party described as an “undeclared visit.” According to the allegations, there were no publicly available details regarding the itinerary, host, or official engagements during the trip. The BJP further questioned whether mandatory approvals had been secured for the visit and sought clarification on its funding source.

The ruling party also raised broader concerns regarding the financial aspects of Gandhi’s international travel history. It alleged a mismatch between his declared income and the estimated expenditure on foreign trips over the years. The BJP claimed that the total spending on such visits ran into several crores of rupees and questioned how these expenses were financed.

In addition, the BJP referred to past foreign visits, alleging that some were not officially declared or lacked sufficient transparency in terms of documentation. It sought clarification on whether income tax disclosures, regulatory approvals, and foreign funding compliance requirements had been fulfilled.

The party further cited security protocol concerns, claiming that certain foreign visits may have violated guidelines applicable to protectees under security cover. It referenced internal communications reportedly linked to security agencies, suggesting that questions had previously been raised regarding undisclosed travel.

The Congress party has not issued an official response to the latest allegations at the time of reporting.

The issue has added to ongoing political sparring between the ruling BJP and the opposition Congress, with foreign visits of senior leaders frequently becoming a subject of political debate and scrutiny in recent years.
