Delhi Bus Horror: Driver and Conductor Arrested After Woman Alleges Assault Inside Sleeper Coach

A disturbing incident reported from the national capital has once again raised serious concerns over women’s safety in public and private transport systems. Delhi Police have arrested a private bus driver and conductor after a woman alleged that she was sexually assaulted inside a sleeper bus in West Delhi.

According to police officials, the incident reportedly occurred late at night in the Nangloi area. The survivor later approached authorities and filed a complaint, following which an FIR was registered and an investigation was launched immediately. Both accused were taken into custody shortly after the complaint was lodged.

Police sources said the woman was allegedly targeted while travelling during nighttime hours. Investigators stated that the accused allegedly took the bus to a relatively isolated location where the assault reportedly occurred. Authorities confirmed that the survivor underwent medical examination procedures in accordance with legal protocol. Investigators are also reviewing CCTV footage from nearby areas, examining the movement of the vehicle, and recording witness statements to establish a detailed timeline of events.

Senior police officials stated that multiple teams were deployed to gather evidence quickly after the complaint was filed. Preliminary investigations reportedly helped authorities identify and trace the accused within a short period. Officials added that strict legal action would be pursued based on the outcome of the investigation.

The case has triggered renewed debate over passenger safety, especially for women travelling alone at night in private transport vehicles. Citizens and activists have repeatedly demanded stricter monitoring of private buses, mandatory GPS tracking systems, regular police verification of transport workers, and improved late-night patrolling in vulnerable areas of Delhi.

The identities of the survivor and accused have not been disclosed in compliance with legal and ethical guidelines related to sexual assault cases in India.

Police said further investigation is underway and additional evidence is being collected to strengthen the case.
