The sudden demise of Prateek Yadav, the younger son of late Samajwadi Party founder Mulayam Singh Yadav and half-bther of Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, has sent shockwaves through political and social circles in Uttar Pradesh. Prateek Yadav, known for maintaining a low political profile despite belonging to one of the state’s most influential political families, passed away at the age of 38 in Lucknow on Wednesday morning.

According to reports, Prateek’s health deteriorated suddenly in the early hours of the day, following which he was rushed to a hospital in Lucknow. Despite medical efforts, doctors declared him dead. Authorities have initiated post-mortem procedures to determine the exact cause of death, while family members, supporters, and political leaders gathered to pay their respects.

Akhilesh Yadav expressed deep grief over the loss of his half-brother and described the incident as “extremely heartbreaking.” During interactions with the media and close associates, he recalled Prateek as a disciplined and health-conscious individual who always aimed to move forward in life through hard work and personal commitment.     

Prateek Yadav largely stayed away from active politics despite his family’s longstanding political legacy. Instead, he focused on business ventures, fitness entrepreneurship, and social welfare initiatives. He was widely known in Lucknow’s fitness community for operating a gym under the name “The Fitness Planet” and had earned a reputation as a fitness enthusiast who maintained a disciplined lifestyle.

Beyond business, Prateek was also associated with animal welfare activities. He reportedly founded and supported an organisation dedicated to the rescue and care of stray animals, particularly dogs. Friends and associates often described him as compassionate, soft-spoken, and deeply connected to humanitarian causes.

Prateek Yadav was married to Aparna Yadav, a political leader associated with the Bharatiya Janata Party and currently serving in a key role in the Uttar Pradesh State Women’s Commission. Despite differing political affiliations within the extended family, personal relationships reportedly remained cordial. Sources indicated that Akhilesh Yadav had recently visited Prateek during his illness, reflecting the emotional bond shared within the family.

Several political leaders across party lines expressed condolences following the tragic news. Messages of sympathy poured in from leaders in Uttar Pradesh and beyond, highlighting the widespread impact of the sudden loss. Supporters and well-wishers also gathered at the family residence as the Yadav family faced one of its most emotional moments in recent years.
