Mojtaba Khamenei, son of Iran’s slain Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, was badly injured in an airstrike on February 28, 2026. According to Reuters and US intelligence sources, he lost one leg and suffered serious facial injuries.

Since taking power on March 8, Mojaba has not appeared in public. No photos or videos of him have been released. Reports citing sources said he is avoiding cameras because of deep cuts on his face and other injuries. Iranian media has reportedly started calling him Jambaz, a word often used for wounded fighters.

Despite his physical condition, Mojtaba said to be mentally active, reports claim he is holding meetings with officials through audio conferencing. He also said to be making decisions related to peace talks with the United States and ongoing tensions involving Islamabad.

Some experts believe that Mojtaba is currently acting as a symbolic leader. They say real power may be in hand of Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. Guards reportedly played a key role in supporting him and are now becoming more influential.

These developments come as important talks between the United States and Iran begin in Islamabad. The world is watching to see whether Mojtaba Khamenei will take part in any major agreement with the administration of Donald Trump.
