Islamabad is on a high alert citing that the US and Iran ceasefire negotiations are going to start from April 11. This negotiation led to schools, colleges, and shops shutting down over security concerns.

The upcoming negotiation in Islamabad is the development that comes after the US and Iran agreed to a two-week conditional ceasefire. That set the stage for talks with the purpose of converting this temporary truce into a long-lasting peace arrangement after the conflict triggered on February 28 by the killing of Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Due to the negotiation, Islamabad is on a high alert.Pakistani authorities have reportedly declared a holiday on April 9 and 10 with the aim of minimising civilian movements in the national capital. Schools, colleges, and shops were also closed in the city.

Security forces ramped up the city with key roads sealed, traffic diverted, and sensitive zones locked down ahead of the arrival of foreign delegations. Parliament area, key government installations, luxury hotels, embassies, and the offices of foreign organisations have been blocked for civilian vehicles, as per reports.

Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi reportedly assured the US ambassador foolproof security for the visit of the American delegation.
