At least 12 medical personnel were killed in an Israeli air strike on a healthcare centre in the town of Borj Qalaouiya in south Lebanon, the National News Agency reported on Saturday, citing the Lebanese Ministry of Public Health.
The ministry said the death toll was preliminary, with rescue operations continuing as teams searched for people still missing following the strike.
In a statement, the ministry said it “mourns the healthcare workers in Burj Qalawiya who were killed in an Israeli airstrike that targeted the town’s primary healthcare centre”.
Twelve doctors, paramedics and nurses who were on duty at the facility were killed, while one healthcare worker was injured. Rescue teams were still working at the site to locate survivors and recover victims, officials said.
The ministry described the incident as the second attack on the health sector within a few hours. Earlier, an airstrike on Sawaneh killed two paramedics affiliated with Hezbollah and its ally Amal Movement, it said.
