US President Donald Trump issued a strong statement following the latest escalation in the Middle East, declaring that America’s objective is to “eliminate threats by eliminating people from the Iranian regime.”

Calling the Iranian leadership a “vicious and dangerous group,” Trump alleged that Iran has targeted the United States for decades, carried out acts of terror, and held American nationals hostage for 444 days. He warned that no one should challenge the strength of the US military, asserting that America’s armed forces are unmatched in power.

The statement came as Tehran was rocked by massive explosions after Israel launched what it described as “preventive” missile strikes against Iran, dramatically escalating tensions in the region.

Several missiles reportedly struck areas along University Street and in the Jomhouri district. Thick plumes of smoke were seen rising near Pasteur Street in downtown Tehran, which houses key government buildings. Powerful blasts were also heard near Mehrabad Airport and across eastern and western parts of the capital.

According to reports, nearly 30 strategic sites were targeted, including sensitive installations in Tehran. Some reports suggest that even the Iranian presidential complex may have been among the targets, though official confirmation is awaited.

In response to the strikes, Iranian authorities reportedly suspended mobile and internet services as a precautionary measure.

Amid the unfolding crisis, reports indicate that not only Israel but also the United States has opened a front against Iran, allegedly launching operations from its military bases located in the Middle East. This signals a significant widening of the conflict beyond bilateral hostilities.

The ripple effects are already being felt across neighbouring countries. Iraq has reportedly closed its airspace and declared a high alert amid fears of further escalation.

The developments come at a sensitive diplomatic moment, with tensions already high over nuclear negotiations between Washington and Tehran. Analysts warn that the current escalation risks spiralling into a broader regional confrontation.
