PM Narendra Modi Addresses Nation on GST 2.0 Reforms Ahead of Implementation

New Delhi, September 21: Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation on Sunday at 5 PM, focusing on the newly introduced Goods and Services Tax (GST) 2.0 reforms.

The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) had earlier shared the update on its official social media accounts, without specifying the subject, which fueled widespread speculation.

PM Modi began his address by congratulating the nation on the Navratri 2025 celebrations and emphasized that India is progressing in the Aatmanirbhar Bharat direction.

He announced that the next-generation GST reforms will come into force from the first day of Navratri, September 22, and highlighted the commencement of the GST Bachat Utsav, which aims to provide citizens with additional savings and ease of purchase.

The Prime Minister extended his greetings on the introduction of GST 2.0 reforms, stating that these changes will accelerate India’s economic growth, simplify business operations, and make investment opportunities more attractive. He used the address to explain key changes in the GST system and their impact on both businesses and consumers.

The timing of the speech is significant as it came a day before the formal implementation of GST 2.0, and the nation closely watched the Prime Minister outline the benefits and details of the new reforms.
