Air India has issued a travel advisory for passengers departing from London Heathrow Airport following a disruption in third-party passenger processing systems caused by a cyberattack.
The airline warned that the incident could lead to delays in the check-in process and advised travellers to complete their web check-in before arriving at the airport.
In an official statement shared on September 20, Air India said, “A third-party passenger system disruption at Heathrow may cause delays in the check-in process. Our ground teams in London are working to minimise inconvenience.” The airline urged all passengers scheduled to fly on Saturday to utilise online check-in to ensure a smoother experience at the airport.
The cyberattack targeted Collins Aerospace, a key service provider that manages check-in and boarding systems for airlines and airports worldwide.
The incident caused widespread disruptions at multiple European airports, including London Heathrow, Brussels, and Berlin, resulting in flight delays and cancellations affecting thousands of travellers.
Heathrow Airport officials also issued an advisory, warning departing passengers of potential delays and urging them to monitor their flight status closely before leaving for the airport. Recovery efforts are underway, but the full resolution of the issue may take time.
