New Delhi: The counting of votes for the highly anticipated Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) Elections 2025 began today, September 19, at 8:00 am at the Multipurpose Hall of the University Sports Stadium in DU’s North Campus.
Voting was conducted on September 18 in two phases — from 8:30 am to 1:00 pm for day colleges and from 3:00 pm to 7:30 pm for evening colleges.
This year’s voter turnout stood at 39.45%, with more than 1.55 lakh students casting their votes across 195 booths in 52 centres. By 2:30 pm on polling day, turnout had already crossed 35%, reflecting a strong student participation.
As of 5:45 pm, 43 polling booth EVMs had recorded 1,33,412 votes, of which 52,635 had been counted.
The presidential race features major candidates including Joslyn Nandita Choudhary from NSUI, Aryan Maan from ABVP, and Anjali from the SFI-AISA alliance.
This year, DU introduced a hybrid voting process — EVMs for central panel voting and paper ballots for college-level voting — combining technology with tradition.
Strict security measures, heightened surveillance, and closely monitored campaigning have been implemented to ensure a free and fair electoral process.
In addition, the Delhi High Court has barred victory processions after results are declared, instructing Delhi Police, DU administration, and city authorities to maintain law and order.
The university has also enforced the Lyngdoh Committee’s anti-defacement regulations with unprecedented rigour, keeping campus walls free of posters and graffiti — a rare sight in DU’s election season.
