Rajasthan: Taj Mahal Replica Among 7 ‘Seven Wonders’ Structures Demolished in Ajmer’s Anasagar Wetland

The Ajmer Development Authority (ADA) has begun demolishing the so-called ‘Seven Wonders’ structures built in the Anasagar Wetland in Rajasthan, following directives from the Supreme Court of India.

Among the structures being removed is a replica of the Taj Mahal, which has drawn significant attention on social media as videos of its demolition circulate online.

The demolition drive started on September 13 with the Egyptian Pyramid replica, which took nearly seven hours to dismantle completely.

On the first day itself, three structures were demolished within 12 hours, including the Colosseum replica, which was removed between 11 am and midnight.

Subsequent demolitions included the Eiffel Tower replica and the replica of Rio’s Christ the Redeemer statue, which were carefully taken down.

These replicas were originally constructed in 2022 at a cost of approximately ₹12 crore under the Ajmer Smart City Project. The ADA has now taken strict measures to remove all seven structures, citing environmental and legal concerns related to the wetland area.

The demolition marks a decisive step by authorities to restore the Anasagar Wetland and comply with judicial orders, drawing attention to the balance between urban development and environmental preservation.
