Gangtok: A massive landslide struck Upper Rimbi under the Yangthang Constituency in West Sikkim late Thursday night, killing at least four people and leaving three others missing.
According to police, three victims died on the spot, while a joint rescue operation by police, local villagers, and SSB personnel managed to save two injured women.

Rescuers used tree logs to construct a temporary bridge over the flooded Hume River to reach the affected area. The injured were immediately shifted to the District Hospital, where one of the women later succumbed to her injuries.
The other woman remains in critical condition, while efforts are ongoing to locate the three missing individuals, said SP Geyzing Tshering Sherpa.

This tragedy follows another landslide earlier this week in Gyalshing district, where a 45-year-old woman, Bishnu Maya Portel, was killed after a landslide destroyed her house on Monday midnight.
Multiple slides have been reported across Sikkim due to heavy rainfall, prompting district authorities to issue an advisory urging residents of vulnerable zones to stay alert and adhere to safety guidelines.
