A tragic shootout between two students occurred inside a private hostel room in Greater Noida’s Knowledge Park area, resulting in the death of an MBA student and critical injuries to his roommate.
Police officials said both students were roommates, and the firing is believed to have occurred over a personal dispute. The incident took place in Knowledge Park Phase 3, where the hostel room was locked from the inside when a security guard heard groaning sounds and immediately informed the warden.
Unable to open the main door, the guard placed a ladder at the back of the building and broke the balcony glass to find both students lying in a pool of blood.
The deceased has been identified as Deepak Kumar, 22, son of Deveela Venkat from Chilkuluri, Andhra Pradesh, pursuing an MBA at a private college. The injured student, Devansh Chauhan, 23, son of Surendra Singh from Bhagwan Talkies, Agra, is pursuing a PGDM course and is currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital.
Preliminary investigations suggest that both were close friends, but an unknown dispute led one student to shoot the other in the head with a licensed revolver before turning the weapon on himself.
Authorities have recovered a licensed revolver, four live cartridges, two empty shells, a phone, a laptop, and other items from the crime scene.
Forensic experts and senior police officers inspected the hostel room, which has now been sealed. Families of both students have been informed and are expected to arrive in Greater Noida for questioning. Police are investigating the matter from all possible angles to determine the motive behind the deadly incident.
