Kausambi, Uttar Pradesh: A disturbing incident has emerged from Kausambi district, where a woman’s body was transported on a motorcycle to a cremation ground due to the unavailability of a hearse. The incident was captured by a commuter while the body was being taken to the Sato Ghat cremation ground, and the video quickly went viral on social media.
Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav shared the video on his X account, condemning the state government. “What could be more shameful than this. There is nothing more to say to either the Chief Minister or the Health Minister,” Yadav wrote.
The deceased has been identified as Buddharani, a resident of Mohabbatpur Jeeta village in Kausambi. She died under mysterious circumstances, according to NDTV. Relatives alleged she was murdered. After a postmortem, the police handed her body to her family, and a detailed investigation is underway.
Buddharani’s husband and son work in private jobs in Ghaziabad, and the family stated that the body had to be transported on a bike because a hearse was unavailable.
Following the video going viral, District Magistrate Madhusudan Hulgi ordered an official probe and requested reports from the concerned authorities.
A similar incident was reported last month in Nagpur, where a man transported his deceased wife’s body by tying it to his motorcycle after a fatal accident involving a speeding truck.
The woman, identified as Gyarsi Amit Yadav, was from Seoni district, Madhya Pradesh, and had been living in Lonara near Koradi, Nagpur. Her husband claimed that his repeated pleas for help were ignored, leaving him helpless.
