Lucknow: The minor daughter of BJP MLA Ketki Singh, 16-year-old Vibhavari Singh, issued a stern warning to Samajwadi Party (SP) workers on Wednesday, accusing them of trying to intimidate her at her residence. The incident occurred after members of the SP women’s wing, led by Neha Yadav, demonstrated outside the MLA’s house with a tap in symbolic protest against alleged remarks made against party chief Akhilesh Yadav. Police were deployed to prevent any escalation.
In a video message, Vibhavari addressed the SP workers directly, asserting that they could not intimidate her. She stated, “These people think they can do politics by frightening a 16-year-old girl. If this is what they are being taught in government, then it is wrong.” She further warned, “The more you try to scare me, the less I’m afraid. But if you even point a finger at me, my mother will take action against you.”
The controversy stems from BJP MLA Ketki Singh’s earlier remarks targeting Akhilesh Yadav regarding missing taps from the Chief Minister’s residence after he vacated it in June 2018. Singh criticized Yadav, questioning the disappearance of government property and sarcastically remarking that during SP rule, “cows and buffaloes used to attend schools.” The BJP has since been mocking Yadav with the nickname ‘Tonti Chor’ (Tap thief).
The SP has denied the allegations, with Yadav attributing the missing items to negligence by government officials. The matter remains a politically charged issue, reflecting the ongoing tensions between the BJP and the SP in Uttar Pradesh.
