Union Minister Kiren Rijiju played a crucial role in rescuing two men after their pick-up truck plunged into a river in Ladakh on Tuesday. The incident occurred when Rijiju’s convoy was on its way to Drass. Fortunately, both occupants of the vehicle managed to survive the accident.
Rijiju shared a video of the dramatic scene on social media, showing the two men anxiously standing on the partially submerged vehicle. “Before reaching Drass in Ladakh, one vehicle fell into the river just ahead of our convoy. Luckily, we were on time and both persons survived,” Rijiju wrote along with the video.
The union minister personally got down from his car to assess the situation and spoke to the stranded men, asking if the accident happened due to brake failure. In the video, Rijiju could be heard asking, “Brake fail hua kya?” He also inquired if the men had a rope in their vehicle to assist with the rescue, but they responded negatively.
Soon after, local police arrived at the scene and, along with Rijiju’s security personnel, successfully rescued the two individuals. No injuries were reported.
Rijiju is currently on an official visit to Kargil district in Ladakh. Earlier, he shared glimpses of his journey on social media, including memorable moments at Sonamarg in Jammu and Kashmir, where he rode a horse and appreciated the hospitality of the locals. “Real development is happening now. Common people of Kashmir are great hosts & they are dead against the violence perpetrated by the enemies,” Rijiju stated in his post.
Sonamarg, known as one of the most popular tourist destinations in Jammu and Kashmir, was also highlighted in the minister’s updates.
