In a shocking incident caught on camera, an Indian Army jawan was brutally assaulted by toll booth staff in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. The jawan, identified as Kapil Kavad from the Rajput Regiment, was pinned to a pole and beaten with sticks after a heated argument at the Bhuni toll plaza.
Kapil, who was home on leave, was on his way to Delhi airport to catch a flight to Srinagar when he got stuck in heavy traffic at the toll booth. Anxious about missing his flight, he stepped out of the vehicle and spoke to the toll staff, leading to an argument that quickly escalated into violence.
A viral video shows at least five toll booth employees attacking Kapil and his cousin. The footage reveals Kapil being tied to a pole, his hands pulled back, while the attackers hurl abuses and thrash him with sticks.
Rakesh Kumar Mishra, Superintendent of Police (Rural), confirmed that a case has been registered at Sarurpur police station following a complaint from Kapil’s family. “Four accused have been arrested after reviewing CCTV footage and videos, and efforts are on to nab the remaining suspects,” he said.
Reports suggest the altercation began after Kapil informed the toll staff that his village was exempt from toll charges, which triggered the dispute.
