Superstar Rajinikanth’s ‘Coolie’ signifies his inaugural partnership with the successful director Lokesh Kanagaraj. This year holds even greater significance for Thalaivar as it celebrates his 50th anniversary in the film industry. To honor this milestone, the creators of ‘Coolie’ chose to pay him a special tribute. The film received an A certificate from the Censor Board of Film Certification (CBFC) on August 1. Nevertheless, the team opted to incorporate some new elements, including a tribute to Rajinikanth.

It has been more than thirty years since a Rajinikanth film was awarded an A certificate. Nevertheless, the producers chose to proceed with it. Previously, the film’s duration was two hours and 49 minutes. With the latest update, the final runtime has now reached two hours and 50 minutes.

The censor report indicates that the producers have incorporated animated visuals for the card “RAJNI 50 years,” which will be displayed for 25 seconds. Additional elements in the film include background rap songs accompanying the introduction of Dayal (Soubin Shahir), along with several scenes featuring Simon (Nagarjuna), Deva (Rajinikanth), and Preethi (Shruti Haasan).

The censor certificate also implies that there are scenes depicting a woman committing murders while reflecting on her past.

‘Coolie’ is helmed by Lokesh Kanagaraj and stars Nagarjuna, Shruti Haasan, Upendra, Soubin Shahir, and many others in the cast. Aamir Khan is set to make a striking cameo as Daaha. Produced by Sun Pictures, ‘Coolie’ is among the most eagerly awaited films of 2025.

In the meantime, Rajinikanth is taking a break from filming ‘Jailer 2,’ which is directed by Nelson Dilipkumar. The production of the sequel commenced earlier this year and is anticipated to be released in theaters in the first half of 2026.
