Security forces thwart infiltration attempts by Pakistani terrorists in Poonch, J&K

Srinagar: On Wednesday morning, alert Indian security forces thwarted an infiltration attempt along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Degwar sector of Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district, resulting in the death of two terrorists during an encounter, according to official sources. “Our troops observed suspected movement of two individuals along the fence in the general area of #Poonch Sector. Gunfire was exchanged. The operation is ongoing (sic),” the White Knight Corps reported on X.

Infiltration attempt occurred during heavy rain
Reports indicate that the infiltration attempt took place under the cover of significant overnight rain, with two to three terrorists trying to cross from Pakistan-occupied territory into Indian territory. Alert troops detected the movement of the infiltrating terrorists in the general area of Maldivalan in the Degwar sector late Tuesday night, which led to the encounter, officials stated.

Gunfire prompts security action
Security forces acted quickly, resulting in an exchange of fire between the infiltrators and troops positioned along the LoC. The encounter is still ongoing, and a combing operation has been initiated in the area to ensure that no further threats exist.
