Ahmedabad airport has received a bomb threat, security sweep to be carried out

Ahmedabad: On Tuesday, the Ahmedabad airport received a bomb threat, prompting security agencies to conduct a comprehensive sweep of the area, during which no suspicious items were discovered, according to officials. The threat was communicated via email by an unidentified individual to the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport.

Upon receiving the email, local police quickly arrived at the scene and, with assistance from the cyber crime branch and other security agencies, thoroughly examined the entire airport premises, stated Assistant Commissioner of Police, ‘G’ Division, VN Yadav.

“The threat was ultimately determined to be a hoax as no suspicious items were located. Both the airport police and the cyber crime unit are pursuing further investigations,” he reported.

An airport spokesperson mentioned that the threat was ‘non-specific’ and that nothing suspicious was uncovered following the search. “After receiving a threatening email on July 22, 2025, the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad activated the Bomb Threat Assessment Committee, which assessed the threat as non-specific,” the spokesperson noted.

The Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) carried out extensive checks of the premises in accordance with standard security protocols, as stated. “Following a meticulous sweep of the area, no suspicious objects or activities were detected. Airport operations have proceeded without interruption.

The safety and security of passengers and staff are our utmost priority,” the spokesperson stressed. Over the past six months, similar hoax bomb threats have been reported at the Gujarat High Court, the Ahmedabad airport, and more than 20 private schools throughout the state.
