Bengaluru:  BJP MLA Byrathi Basavaraj is one of five individuals charged by police in eastern Bengaluru following the fatal hacking of a rowdy on Tuesday evening, according to police reports.

Shivakumar, also known as Biklu Shivu, aged 40, who lived in Halasuru, was brutally attacked by four men armed with machetes who approached on motorcycles near his residence on Meanee Avenue Road in Bharathinagar.

Police have identified Basavaraj, Jagadish, Kiran, Vimal, and Anil in response to a complaint filed by Shivakumar’s mother, who claimed that the murder stemmed from a property dispute and that the BJP MLA had incited the attackers.

The Bharathinagar police have initiated a case under BNS Section 103 concerning murder. An investigation is currently ongoing.
