A social media influencer hailing from Rajasthan has been apprehended for allegedly smuggling drugs while traveling on a state transport bus to Gujarat. The individual, known as Bhanwari Devi alias Bhavika Choudhary, was discovered with 152 grams of MDMA hidden in her laptop bag.

Choudhary, a 27-year-old from Vankalpura village in Barmer district, is recognized online as ‘Bhavika’ and boasts over 85,000 followers on Instagram. She was taken into custody on Sunday after police received a tip-off and intercepted the bus in Chitalwana, Jalore district.

As per Baldev Ram, Station House Officer of Chitalwana Police Station, the woman boarded the bus from Barmer Bus Stand after traveling from Jaisalmer. During a routine inspection, officers uncovered two packets of MDMA concealed within her laptop bag.

Preliminary investigations indicated that the drug shipment was intended for delivery to locations in Unjha and Mehsana in Gujarat. Choudhary allegedly informed the police that she had obtained the package from a woman named Chanani Devi, a known drug supplier in Barmer. She reportedly received Rs 10,000 for each trip to transport the drugs.

The Barmer police had previously received intelligence regarding drug movements and alerted the Ramji Ki Gol Chowki checkpoint. However, the bus had already departed the area by the time officers arrived. The alert was subsequently communicated to Chitalwana police, who successfully halted the vehicle and executed the arrest.

Sources indicated that upon being apprehended, Choudhary attempted to reach out to friends and family for assistance, but received no responses.

Authorities stated that further interrogations are ongoing to reveal the full scope of the drug network and identify additional individuals involved in the trafficking operation.

The arrest has generated significant attention in Barmer and across the state, as Choudhary was a well-known figure on social media, especially among younger audiences.
