The Axiom Mission 4 (Ax-4) crew, which includes Indian Air Force officer Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla, is scheduled to undock from the International Space Station (ISS) on Monday, July 14, Axiom Space confirmed.
In an official post on X (formerly Twitter), Axiom Space announced that the undocking is planned no earlier than 7:05 a.m. ET (approximately 4:30 p.m. IST). The Ax-4 crew’s departure was initially slated for July 10, but the return has been postponed, extending their stay in orbit by at least four additional days, according to the European Space Agency (ESA).
The Ax-4 mission launched aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket from Launch Complex 39A at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida on June 25, and successfully docked with the ISS on June 26 at 4:05 p.m. IST. The docking occurred ahead of schedule, connecting the Dragon spacecraft to the Harmony module’s space-facing port.
During their extended stay aboard the ISS, the crew has been engaged in a wide range of scientific experiments, technology demonstrations, and outreach activities aimed at advancing space research and Earth-based applications.
The four-member crew includes:
- Commander Peggy Whitson, veteran NASA astronaut,
- Group Captain Shubhanshu “Shux” Shukla, pilot and representative from India,
- Mission Specialist Slawosz “Suave” Uznanski-Wisniewski, and
- Mission Specialist Tibor Kapu.
Axiom Space, in its latest mission update, noted that the crew has made significant progress in scientific investigations, contributing to the mission’s overall objective of fostering innovation both in space and on Earth.
The Ax-4 mission marks a continued effort by Axiom Space to develop commercial spaceflight opportunities while expanding international collaboration in low Earth orbit.
